Did you know ...

The Melksham Community Area has a population of 24,000.

More detailed information about the Melksham campus and research for the proposal is here. Below is a summary.

Melksham Campus

Wiltshire Council are proposing to build a Campus at the Melsham House site in Melksham to bring together many of the facilities that are already provided in 9 different locations within the Melksham area. No facilities will be closed until the new premises is in place.  This is likely to be ready in 2013. The estimated cost of developing a campus in the Melksham area is likely to be over £23 million.  This would be a significant investment and Wiltshire Council want to be sure any future plans for investment provide the services the Melksham community area needs.

Consultation Carried out by Melksham Community Area Partnership, February - March 2011

The Campus proposal was presented at the Melksham Area Board meeting on 2 February. Groups had a chance to look at the plans and collect opinions and feedback to bring back to a special Campus Area Board meeting on 29 March.  This meeting was all about the Campus and was an opportunity to debate and raise issues and concerns about plans.

There were questionnaires sent to every household in the Community Area, with a corresponding online questionnaire , as well as two open days and an open evening.

All the data that we collected was presented back to the Area Board on 29 March.

The strategy that we used is outlined below:

  • Paper questionnaire - 13,000 copies, Distributed 2 March, deadline for return 15 March

  • Corresponding online questionnaire, deadline for submission 24 March

  • Meetings with clubs and groups across the area

  • MCAP OPEN DAY, SAT 12 FEBRUARY, 1pm -5pm, Melksham Town Hall

  • MCAP OPEN EVENING, Thursday 3 March,  6 - 8pm, Melksham Assembly Hall

  • MCAP OPEN DAY, SAT 12 MARCH, 10am - 1pm, Melksham Town Hall
