Community Safety
The Melksham Area Community Safety Group is an effective forum for airing safety concerns from the local community. With representation from Town and Parish Councils, Police, Housing Society, The George Ward School, Youth Development and other local organisations; the group explores and agrees actions to address these concerns. The group meets with the Neighbourhood Tasking Group every quarter to agree policing priorities for the Neighbourhood Policing Teams during the next 3 months. CSG meetings are held on the last Thursday of every month at the Town Hall and combined CSG/NTG meetings are held in the Assembly Hall.
Recent activities include:
A decision to stage a public event to review the effectiveness of Neighbourhood Watch and identify actions to support and improve it further. Plans for this event have been welcomed by the Wiltshire Police Authority
Following up anti-social concerns raised at a special meeting in Melksham Town Hall by agreeing actions to help reduce the problem
Preparing for the roll-out to this area of the new Touch2id Proof-of-age card for young people
